Loan signing Alan Mahon has been handed the Town number 25 shirt. Mahon signed for the Blues yesterday and trained for the first time this morning.

A newspaper report claims that Everton midfielder Lee Carsley is a Town loan target. Blues' manager Joe Royle admitted last week that he would like to take a second player on a short-term deal ahead of the weekend trip to West Brom.

Town may not know whether Kelvin Davis will be fit to face West Ham United until as late as Saturday morning. The keeper's broken finger has improved but manager Joe Royle says he will wait to make a decision on his keeper. If Davis doesn't make it youngster Lewis Price will be handed a debut.

The Blues will point to two crucial refereeing decisions which saw Brian Curson deny a strong Town call for a penalty and fail to send off Millers' defender Shaun Barker for a professional foul on Martijn Reuser, Barker subsequently playing a role in both goals.

Town captain Matt Holland appears to be the most likely Blues' player to be on his way before the Premier League's transfer deadline under the ‘clubs in distress' rule is up on Friday evening. Holland has been watched for some while by Charlton boss Alan Curbishley, however, according to Joe Royle, no bid has yet come in.

Town climbed to 12th in the table after completing the Christmas league programme with a 4-1 home win over Millwall in torrential rain. Tommy Miller put Town ahead before Steven Reid put the Lions back on terms. However, Jermaine Wright, Marcus Bent and Miller again completed the victory.
